There is no start and no finish to look for, which is where the name comes from.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI carve the spiral in wax around the actual pearl, since the curve has to sit against that specific surface at every point of its turn. The ring is then cast in one piece. The pearl is drilled, a gold pin runs into the hole and is bonded with a dedicated pearl adhesive, and the spiral crosses the pearl without gripping it, so there are no prongs anywhere on the surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe outer face of the spiral is given a fine brushed texture and the inner edge is left highly polished. As the line turns, the two finishes trade places, and the spiral appears to catch and release the light along its length.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pearl is a white bouton, 16 mm, round with one flattened face and a clean, even lustre. The ring measures about 20 mm across at its widest point.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis one has sold. I can make it again with another bouton pearl of the same size from my own stock.
