Two pearls at the two ends of a single twist of gold. The band does not close. It rises, turns on itself, and the two ends pass one another so the pearls sit facing in opposite directions, one slightly above the other.

That is the whole difference between this ring and a symmetrical two-pearl ring. Nothing here lines up. The eye moves from one pearl to the other and back, and the ring reads differently from every angle around the finger.

I carve the twist in wax and cast it in one piece, working the turn until both ends land where they should and the ring still sits flat on the hand. Each pearl is drilled and pinned to its end with a gold post bonded with a dedicated pearl adhesive, so nothing crosses either surface.

One face of the gold carries a fine brushed texture, and the other is left highly polished, so the two arms separate visually as the twist turns.

The pearls are white freshwater rounds, 9 mm, matched by hand. The ring measures about 9 mm across at its widest point, and the open back gives it a little natural give.

Made to order in 18K or 14K gold, in yellow, white, or rose.
