On a reef, the cleaner wrasse is the one everyone visits. Grouper, moray eels, fish many times its size line up at its patch of coral and hold still, and the little fish goes over them one by one, taking away what does not belong.

This is the larger of the two Cleaner Wrasse rings. The same outline, a narrow pear of a body, is built up to 11 by 12 mm as a single hollow form, 5 mm above the finger, so it covers more of the hand while staying light to wear. The surface is brushed, soft and matte, and a 0.02 carat diamond is bezel set off center on the face.

The band starts at 3 mm at the base and narrows to about 2 mm under the form. Worn alone it reads as a statement, and in a stack it anchors the rings around it. For something quieter, the Cleaner Wrasse Ring, Small carries the same form at 8 by 9 mm.

One ring is finished and in the studio now, 14K yellow gold, 17.4 mm inner diameter, size 55 EU, US 7.25. Every other size and gold is made to order.
