The crown of thorns is a starfish of the coral reef, broad and many armed, and covered from end to end in long spines. It is one of the most striking animals on the reef, and one of the few that nothing wants to touch.

The ring takes its spines as its shape. Two open bands of gold cross beneath the finger in an X and rise on either side, and each of the four ends finishes in a small hollow nugget of gold, like the tip of a spine. Each nugget is brushed so the surface stays soft and matte, and each holds a 0.01 carat diamond, 0.04 carat across the ring. The bands are brushed on the outside and polished on the inside.

Every ring is made to order.

For more nuggets on the hand, the Narwhal gathers six on three crossing bands. On the wrist, the Yellowfin bangle carries three.
