Hedva had wanted one of our rings for a long time. When the full piece was not yet within reach, we suggested starting with the open twist band and two keshi pearls, and continuing from there whenever she was ready.

About eight months later she came back. We sculpted two caps in wax, each shaped to its own pearl, so the gold closes around the pearl the way a sepal closes around a bud. The join reads as something that grew there rather than something that was attached.

The finished ring keeps the same line it started with: a 1.5 mm brushed band that opens around the finger and passes itself, about 15 mm across, with a pearl held in gold at each end.

Her ring is not for sale. Yours would be made with your own pair of freshwater keshi pearls, chosen with you from the pearls we keep in the studio, from about 8 to 16 mm, and caps sculpted to fit them. If you already own an Ocean Bloom ring, the caps can be added to it, the way they were added to hers.
