A sea urchin test, the shell left behind after the animal is gone, has ridges running from the center out to the rim and rows of small bumps between them where the spines were attached. That is what is on top of this ring, 13 mm across and standing 6.3 mm above the finger.

The dome is hollow. A solid one at this size would be too heavy to wear and would sit like a weight on the hand. At the center, where the ridges converge, a blue sapphire of about a point. A ruby instead, or any other stone, on request.

The band underneath is left plain and narrow, so nothing competes with the top.

One ring is finished and in the studio now, 14K yellow gold with a blue sapphire, 18.6 mm inner diameter, size 58.5 EU, US 8.5. Every other size and gold is made to order.

It is made as a set with the Sea Urchin Stud Earrings, in 9 mm or 13 mm.
