Each band twists as it goes around, so the flat plane at the top has rotated to an edge by the time it reaches the underside. On its own that is a quiet detail. On two rings side by side in different metals, the twists meet at some points and separate at others, and the pair reads as one object that happens to be in two colours.

The gold and rose here are plating over solid silver. Plating wears where the metal meets skin, and on a ring worn daily expect to replate every year or two. Plain silver needs nothing and simply darkens with time.
