The ostracod is a tiny crustacean, smaller than a grain of rice, and some kinds of it light up. At night in shallow water they give off small flashes of blue, and for a moment the dark sea is full of points of light that disappear as soon as you look for them.

The ring is a single 1.5 mm line of gold that opens around the finger, and each end carries one diamond, 0.01 carat, 0.02 carat for the two. Two small lights facing each other across the opening, and very little else. The outside is brushed, soft and matte, and the inside is polished.

Because the ring is open, it can be adjusted a little to the finger, and it sits easily in a stack or alone.
