The arabesque running through this hamsa is sawn out by hand, not cast and not stamped. Each opening is cut individually, which is why the pattern is not perfectly regular and why light passes through the piece rather than stopping at the surface.

A freshwater pearl hangs from the base on its own fitting, so it swings independently of the hamsa as you move. That is the reason to choose this version over the plain one: it is the only part of the piece that keeps moving after you stop.

At the center sits a 1.3 mm stone, a blue sapphire or a ruby, whichever you prefer.

Hamsa: 20 x 13 mm. With the pearl: 30 mm overall.

Pearls grow rather than get made, so the one you receive will vary by two or three tenths of a millimetre from the measurement above, and its lustre and shape will not be identical to the one photographed. That is what tells you it is real.

White gold is rhodium-plated over solid gold, which is what gives it the bright white finish. The plating wears with contact, but on a pendant it holds for years, far longer than a ring. Yellow and rose gold need nothing.
