A raw black diamond of 3 carats, held by a nugget of 14K yellow gold on a 42 cm rolo chain. This is the piece in the photographs, and it is ready now.

The nugget is not cast from a mould. I carve each one by hand in wax around its own diamond, so the gold fits the stone like a glove and no two are the same. The setting has no prongs and no bezel. The diamond is laser-drilled, a gold pin runs into it, and the two are bonded with a jeweller's stone adhesive. From the outside, there is nothing to see but gold meeting diamond.

The diamond is a natural rough crystal, uncut and unpolished, in the grey-black it came out of the ground in. Its weight is what sets the price.

I make this series from my own stock of rough diamonds, in light grey, green, brown, yellow and black. The stock is limited, and each diamond becomes its own pendant. If you want one in a different colour or weight, or in 18K yellow, white or rose gold, write to me and I will show you what I have.

White gold is plated with rhodium, which fills the texture of the nugget and softens it. Yellow and rose gold need nothing.

The name comes from the sky, like most of the pieces in this collection. Gravity is what pulls a stone to a body and keeps it there.
