Product Details

Vered travels a great deal, and she rarely comes home empty handed. Walking along the beach at Plettenberg Bay in South Africa, she found this shell lying on the sand. It had grown with a natural curve, the same curve as the outside of a wrist, and when she brought it to my studio it was clear to both of us what it would become.

A shell is not a stone. It is built from thin layers laid down over years, and it can crack from heat or from pressure in the wrong place. To join it to the gold I drilled into it slowly, without letting it heat up, and set a gold pin into the drilled hole. At one end the gold also wraps around the edge of the shell, holding it the way a hand would. The cuff is built so that none of the strain of wearing it falls on the points where shell meets gold.

I carved the cuff in wax around the shell itself, shaping the band to follow its underside and wrap the wrist beneath it. Once the first design was ready, Vered came back to the studio to try the wax on, and we set the diameter together before I went any further. From the first wax to the finished piece, the work took about two and a half weeks.

The cuff is made in 14K yellow gold, with polished lines running along the band and a brushed end where it turns at the back of the wrist.

This piece was made for Vered and is not for sale. If you have brought something home from a place that matters to you, a shell, a stone, a piece of a beach, bring it to me and we will find out together what it can become.

Shipping

Every order leaves my Jerusalem studio by FedEx or DHL Express, insured and signed for, door to door. There are no exceptions to this.

How long a piece takes to leave the studio depends on what it is:

  • In stock: within 3 business days
  • Made to order: about two weeks
  • One of a Kind and commissions: agreed with you before work begins

Once a parcel is collected it usually goes on a flight the same day, and reaches most destinations within 1 to 3 days. Customs processing can add time, and that part is outside my control.

Duties and Taxes

Orders shipped outside Israel may be subject to local VAT and import duties. These are set by your own country and are your responsibility as the recipient, not mine. They are separate from the price you paid me and are not refundable.

Rates vary from country to country. If the amount matters to your decision, check with your local customs office before you order.

Commissions and Custom Design

Every commission begins with a design fee of $250 USD for each rendering. This pays for the time I spend developing a detailed 3D visualization of your piece, usually several days of work.

The fee covers up to three rounds of revisions on that rendering. Further revisions are $80 USD each, agreed with you in advance.

If you request more than one design direction, each rendering carries its own $250 fee, because each one is a separate piece of work.

When you go ahead with the order, the full amount you paid in design fees is credited against the price of the finished piece. You do not pay twice.

If you decide not to proceed after a rendering is complete, the fee is not refunded. The work has already been done.

The design itself, including every rendering and drawing I produce, remains my work and my property. It is sent to you so you can approve the piece, and it is not licensed for production by anyone else.

Particularly complex models may carry an additional design fee. I will tell you before starting, never after.

Returns, Refunds and Warranty

In short: ready-made pieces from the catalogue can be returned within 14 days, unworn and in their original packaging. Pieces made to order, One of a Kind pieces and commissions cannot, because each one was made for a specific person. Every piece I make is covered against defects in material and workmanship.

The full terms are set out in my return and refund policy, my shipping policy, and sections 5A to 5C of my terms of service. If something is wrong with your order, write to me before anything else. I would rather fix it than have you keep a piece you are unhappy with.
